David Bearss
Managing Partner
A prolific entrepreneur, David has founded or co-founded eight life science companies. Among his numerous successful companies, David co-founded Tolero Pharmaceuticals. Following a series of scientific breakthroughs, David sold Tolero to Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma for $790 million. Throughout his career, David has focused on translational research in drug development and genetic markers to predict drug sensitivity. As a scientist, David has discovered 16 compounds that have received Investigational New Drug (“IND”) designation by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (“FDA”), and has significant scientific contributions on two drugs approved by FDA.
David completed his post doc in oncology and cancer biology at University of Texas Health, San Antonio, and earned his PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from University of Texas Health, San Antonio and his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Brigham Young University.
Keith has more than 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur, executive and investor. Prior to co-founding UVB Capital, Keith was Chief Innovation & Economic Engagement Officer at University of Utah. During his tenure, he managed the creation and launch of five technology accelerators, a wet lab incubator, an entrepreneur-in-residence program and an early-stage venture fund. As an entrepreneur, Keith launched and scaled two life science companies. His second company, PhysioMetrics, developed a proprietary computer video-motion analysis system to evaluate human functional capacity. In 2005, Keith left PhysioMetrics and co-founded Infinity Partners where he worked alongside CEOs to execute growth strategies as well as raise investment capital. Keith received an MBA in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Management, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from St. Joseph's University.
